Hi, it’s Adrian Bo and today I’m on Coogee Bay Road. Right on the intersection here of Arden Street. Where the Shared Village project which is one way on Coogee Bay Road, heading west, was first launched in November last year. Council last week voted to extend the project until April, after a survey of 3,029 local people gave a 79% thumbs up to extend it. In fact, 86% of respondents wanted to make the wider footpaths, live music and extended outdoor dining space, permanent. Yes, turning this section of the road into a one-way street, may have caused a few extended journeys for some people. But the feedback appears to be overwhelmingly positive to help local businesses get back on their feet after a very tough 2020. A win for the local Greek Community this week as the Council decided to officially recognise Greek Independence Day this year. It being the 200th anniversary since Greece became independent. And to honour the contribution of the local Greek community, which is abundant in Maroubra, Coogee, Randwick, Clovelly It will raise the Greek flag and hold a civic reception on March 25.

Last week the new Rainbow Walkway was unveiled at Coogee Beach right behind me here. With the ceremony featuring Sydney Drag Royalty in the form of Charisma Belle, Carmen Geddit and Hannah Conda.
